What I Love Most About Autumn

Things I love about Autumn

Autumn! Despite the cold, there’s something truly magical about this time of year, which really warms my heart! 

Part of this magic is the beautiful array of colours – such as the leaves turning rusty orange, the glowing sunsets that set the skies on fire, and the brightly coloured berries which decorate the hedgerows in clusters.

In fact, there seems to be more berries about than usual this year (in my neck of the woods, at least) which is said, to be a sign of a harsh winter to come!

The veil between this word and next certainly feels thinner now too; and Halloween, All Souls Day, and the Day of the Dead, all bring their own poignant energy, which fills me with a blend of happiness, sadness and gratitude, as I remember my loved ones who’ve sadly now passed on.

Of course, you can’t forget the high-spirited Halloween celebrations too! 

Orange glass pumpkins, Autumn leaf buntings and skeletons jumping out from plastic coffins, whenever you walk past them at the store! (No matter how many times that happens, those things always give me a fright!)

I love to decorate my house at this time of year too, with natural crafts such as fragrant orange slices, and pinecones and twigs that I’ve picked up on leafy forest walks!

Another thing I love about the Autumn, is all the incredible seasonal food!

It’s always satisfying to harvest the last of the produce from the veggie garden, and I just adore making delicious apple crumbles, hearty stuffed squash and marrows, and velvety pumpkin pie too!

I’m Chrissy, and this small slice of the web is where I’ll be sharing my thoughts, experiences, joys and challenges, around topics that are close to my heart!

I already blog over at earthfoodsnutrition.com where I post my healthy vegan recipes and share my love of whole foods, plant-based nutrition.  

This blog, however, is more personal and will be a place where I’ll be talking about everything that I enjoy, that doesn’t fit into the healthy whole-foods box!

I’m passionate about holistic health, wellness, fitness, spirituality and cruelty-free, sustainable living. I love travelling and spending time in nature, and I’m currently in remission from Lyme Disease, which blighted my 20’s – yet made me the determined, optimistic and grateful person that I am today!
